Lions motto: “We serve”
The Fraser River Valley Lions Club is a service organization that gives 100% of the money we raise back to the community. All our officers, committee members and general membership are unpaid volunteers. We raise money by our activities including pancake breakfasts, managing the local Forest Service campgrounds and other work, rather than asking for contributions. The Club is not political, religious or oriented to business; we’re simply dedicated to helping our community. Our local club has over 100 men and women dedicated to serving our community. The Fraser River Valley Lions Club is the local branch of the world's largest service organization, Lions Clubs International, which has 1.35 million members in over 200 countries.
Our local Lions Club gives thousands of dollars each year in scholarships to local students and built the Lions Pavilion next to the Lions Ponds (which we stock with trout) near Safeway. We’ve also given thousands of dollars to numerous Grand County organizations including local Boy and Girl Scout programs, the Mountain Family Center, Heart of the Mountain Hospice, Advocates and the East Grand County School District We have provided free eyeglasses and vision exams for those in need, and much, much more.
