Today, we're fortunate to have Mike Moniz as our special guest speaker. Here's a little background about Mike:

Early morning on May 27th, 2012 Mike Moniz stood nearly 28,000 feet atop the 4th tallest mountain on the planet, Lhotse. 24 hours earlier he had completed the demanding South East Ridge route of Mt. Everest, becoming one of the few alpinists to link two 8000-meter peaks back to back. Explore the expedition through a combination of remarkable video and photos that capture a rare and dramatic vantage point of these majestic giants. The 2012 climbing season on Mt. Everest was both dangerous and controversial. Mike will also share his perspective on some of the factors that lead to the infamous traffic jams and unfortunate loss of life on May 19th. This is unique opportunity to discover what it takes to plan and prepare for the rigorous demands of high altitude climbing at new levels. He'll also share some favorite items from his gear list.
